BF

I have been breastfeeding for over 2 months now! Wow its gone fast. I also had hardly any pain or discomfort. It was a shock to me and I also never had any leaking. I know you might be thinking tmi.. but this is my blog. SOO I will write about my boobs. I wish I had known that it was only a possibility of pain and leaking! I seriously thought that everyone had to go through a HARD time before it got better. I never hit that at all?! I am still kind of waiting. I did hurt the day my milk came in, but it was bearable considering I just gave birth a few days before. I have had a little bit of uncomfterable times when he latches on, but its totally NOTHING like I thought it would be. SO happy about it. I do have 6 pairs of cotton reusable breast pads if anyone needs them. I also have an extra tube of lanolin stuff too that I doubt I will use, and I have some breast shells. I was prepared to breastfeed. I hope to do it till he is 12 months old, maybe I will just start to pump more later. The thing I didnt think about was that I would have to think about what I put on that day and what I was doing if I was going to leave the house how easy is if for me to pull out my boob. HA! I dress for easy access. I just got three shirts today and a button up sweater to make it easier when we are out. Bonus for me they were on sale for $1 at the PX. Three shirts the same for $3. Wahoo. OK well Just wanted to make a short post about how surprised I am at how breastfeeding has been going. I think I was so scared and prepared for the worst that it just couldn't be as bad as I was thinking.

I can't wait to try again when/if we have another one. I think a lot of it has to do w/ the baby. I thought I was incredibly prepared too...and wow, it didn't work so well for me. Did you start using the Lanolin RIGHT away? Or did you wait? I think next time, I'm going to use it right off the bat...I waited until my boobs were already awful.

Deanna do you say that because it could get worse with this one?! OR are you talking about the next one?

Raschel I used it at the hospital. I got a little bit tender but I think that helped. I guess I did use the breast pads when i put the lanolin on. A friend told me it stained, so I just would lather it on thick then put the pad on, so I wouldn't stick to the bra. I am guessing that made all the difference and is the reason I didn't hurt. I think you are great for pumping for so long! Roman doesnt like bottles.. BUT I still have some frozen milk. We are going to try to have a friend feed him this weekend and she (and her husband) are going to watch him for us while we attend a ball.

Don't "should" yourself! All it will do is make you feel horrible. When you feel ready to put him in his room, you will. Don't let guilt or "should" hang over your head like that. They're only little once. Don't spend that time feeling bad about what you're doing. Adeline had cradle cap too. We have a friend who's a doctor and he said that when you give them a bath, wet their hair right at first and put shampoo on it, then let it sit there and soak in while you're bathing the rest of him, then at the very end of the bath, get one of those baby brushes with the soft bristles & massage that baby shampoo into his scalp, then rinse it off. You should do this 3-5 times a week. It went away really quickly after we did this! I hope that helps!

I say that because you are only 2 months in and anything can happen! I didn't start leaking til later in bf and especially if I missed a feeding...yikes! And when they start cutting out night feedings...I would leak when I would turn on my side up against the mattress in my sleep if it was close to a feeding...oh and when they start solids and start taking less milk. And for the cream, even if things are going well, you can still take a turn for the worse with thrush and mastitis! I got those at 3 mos with my first 2 babies. NOT fun and you'll be wanting that cream! :)
